The park was named for former Council Member Lynn Robie, in recognition of her efforts in the City of Sacramento and for her leadership presiding over much of the development of the Greenhaven/Pocket Area, as well as her significant community service. The Groundbreaking of the park was held on November 3, 2014 and was hosted by the former councilmember for District 7, Darrell Fong.

Councilmember Jennings was joined by Honorable Jim Cooper, Assembly member, Honorable Darrell Fong, Former Sacramento City Councilmember, District 7, Honorable Barry Loncke, Former Sacramento County Superior Court Judge, Bill Edgar, Former City of Sacramento City Manager, and Shane Singh, City of Sacramento Parks and Recreation Commissioner

The event featured a “Best Dressed Dog” contest with prizes for the winners. Sponsors Unleashed Petco, Mueller Pet Medical Center and Grateful Dog along with other dog food vendors provided doggie treats and doggie gift bags for furry friends. Make sure to bone up on your doggy diet knowledge like “are almonds safe for dogs” before you take your pooch out there.

The park, located within the Bill Conlin Youth Sports Complex includes benches, drinking fountains for dogs, and plenty of room to run. Dogs of all sizes are welcome. The park boasts both small and large-dog parks that contain turf areas and wood bark. Special thanks to Front Street Animal Shelter for providing photos of the event!
