Blighted alleyways and unvaccinated pets can make a neighborhood quite spooky. The City of Sacramento staff, Atlas Disposal, Republic Services, and community volunteers saved the day on Halloween by hosting a “Hallow-clean” event near Dixieanne Avenue in Councilmember Allen Warren’s District 2 area.
The event was a success for neighborhood residents and their pets as well. Front Street Animal Shelter participated by offering residents free vaccines, micro-chipping, as well as appointments for low cost spay and neuter.
This was an opportunity for Code Enforcement Officers to educate residents on code violations and the importance of keeping our neighborhoods clean. Code Enforcement Officers and other volunteers completed many trips throughout the neighborhood picking up items such as refrigerators, furniture, and debris left in alleyways. Residents were grateful for the help as many do not have the transportation to haul their large unwanted items or the funds for pick-up service.
This is the second clean-up event held this year in an effort to provide residents an opportunity to remove junk from their yards as well as services to keep their pets healthy. The first event was held this past summer in Oak Park.
