Sac Fire Department launches PulsePoint Respond App

This past Monday, the Sacramento Fire Department announced the launch of PulsePoint at a news conference in Cesar Chavez Park to discuss the availability of the life-saving mobile application to our community.

PulsePoint Respond is a pre-arrival smartphone application designed to support public safety agencies working to improve cardiac arrest survival rates through improved bystander performance and active citizenship. PulsePoint Respond empowers everyday citizens to provide lifeā€saving assistance to victims of sudden cardiac arrest.

Users of this application will be able to indicate if they have had CPR training and their willingness to assist those in need. In case of an emergency, these users will be notified if someone nearby is having a cardiac emergency and may require CPR.

If a cardiac emergency takes place in a public area, the location-aware application will alert trained citizens in the vicinity of the need for bystander CPR while simultaneously dispatching emergency crews to arrive.

The application also directs these citizen rescuers to the exact location of the closest publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Ā The Sacramento Fire Department is currently updating the location of the every AED in the City.

The Sacramento Fire Department believes PulsePoint will be a powerful tool in their efforts to increase survival rates in our beloved Sacramento community.

The Sacramento Fire Department highly encourages all citizens to download the free application and try it out.Ā  Download the app on the Apple App Store or Google Play by simply searching for ā€œPulsePointā€.Ā Ā For more information, visit the PulsePoint webpage.
