Sacramento City College, Curtis Park welcome new bicycle and pedestrian bridge

On May 26, 2016, City of Sacramento celebrated the grand opening of the Sacramento City College Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge, with help from the Department of Public Works, Council Member Jay Schenirer, Drake Haglan and Associates, and local Girl Scout troops.

The event also celebrated  May is Bike Month, and, as part of the grand opening ceremony, attendees either walked or rode their bike across the bridge. Local Girl Scout troops also proudly lead the inaugural walk/bike across the bridge as part of their bridge ceremony – one that celebrates a girl scout moving on to the next level.

The completion of the bridge enhances bicycle and pedestrian safety for City College students and  serves as a transit oriented development for the surrounding community. The new bridge spans over the Sacramento Regional Transit Light Rail tracks and Union Pacific Railroad Tracks adjacent to Sacramento City College and connects the Curtis Park community to City College and the Light Rail Station.
