This week, City Council approved funding of more than two dozen park improvement projects with Measure U funds. The City will allocate more than $2.1 million in park infrastructure upgrades, facility improvements, and space activation. Find a full list of the projects.
Voters overwhelmingly passed Measure U in November of 2012 as a temporary ½-cent sales tax proposed to restore and protect City services. The intent was to restore police and fire services, park maintenance and other essential services that were cut between 2008 and 2013.
The sales tax took effect April 1, 2013 and will expire on March 31, 2019. Parks and Recreation is receiving as estimated $4.73 Million a year to restore services.

The City encourages those who have ideas on park improvements to take The Sandbox Survey by January 31, 2017. Your responses will help the City develop the Park Project Programming Guide. The Guide is a prioritized list of unfunded new park and recreation capital projects throughout the City. The process allows staff to identify and prioritize projects when funding becomes available.
