Levees safe and secure as sunny skies prevail

With a shift to spring weather the City’s staff, together with the State Department of Water Resources, will stop patrolling levees on a daily basis after March 15. The Sacramento River is currently below 22 feet at the I St. Bridge, which is below the State-mandated monitoring stage of 27.5 feet.

After that, Utilities staff will remain on-call to monitor levees for potential erosion should stormy weather return.

Utilities started 24/7 levee patrol to monitor river levels and potential erosion in January. Since the beginning of the storm season, no significant levee erosion has been reported.
