Road Closures planned for R Street during Holiday Weekend

Patrons encouraged to plan ahead when visiting R Street businesses during the holiday weekend.

Closure Information

• R Street Parking Garage (1501 R Street) and access to garage on R Street between 15^th and 16th Street will be Closed.
• R Street from 13^th to 14th Street continues to be closed until February 23.
• One-way westbound traffic on R Street between 15th Street and 14^th Street will be maintained at all times.

9 p.m. Friday, February 16 to 4 a.m., Tuesday, February 20.

Patrons are encouraged to also consider alternate modes such as bicycling, rideshare, or public transportation.

The work is part of the last phase of streetscape improvements on R Street. The project will enhance the streets and sidewalks along the R Street corridor between 13^th to 16^th Street and unify the two previous streetscape projects between 10^th and 13^th and 16^thand 18^th Streets.

Construction began early in October and is scheduled to be completed in early summer 2018. Work will be done in phases to allow businesses to remain open during construction. The overall enhancements will include wider sidewalks, improved pedestrian crossings, tree canopies, street lighting, and upgraded storm drainage system. The project is an integral part in the continued revitalization of the R Street Corridor.
