You’re invited: Open House on Memorial Auditorium improvements

Memorial Auditorium is undergoing some major improvements beginning late June 2018. Please join City staff, project contractor, and architect, for an informational open house.

During the meeting, project staff will share details on the improvements being made to the historic building, address public concerns about traffic and the impact to surrounding businesses, and answer any questions.

Beginning June 2018, in preparation for the temporary relocation of the Community Center Theater events to the Memorial Auditorium, the City is undertaking improvements to the building to enhance the functionality and patron experience.

The improvements will also improve the Auditorium overall in the long term.  Permanent and temporary improvements include:

  • New audience seating at the Orchestra Level
  • Refurbished audience seating at Dress Circle and the First Balcony Levels
  • Improved lighting and rigging
  • Acoustic enhancements
  • Orchestra shell
  • Temporary restrooms
  • Temporary loading dock area

The $16.2 million project will be completed in the summer of 2019 in time for the relocation of the Sacramento Community Center Theater events. Updates will be provided as the project moves forward.
