Meet Sac PD’s new communications team

The Sacramento Police Department recently promoted two staff to work as public information officers, the main position that oversees communications to the public and acts as liaison to the media.

Sabrina Briggs is the department’s first female sergeant public information officer, and has previously worked as a patrol supervisor, in internal affairs and as a beat officer.

Officer Karl Chan will assist Sgt. Briggs, and was previously a part of the bike patrol. Chan is currently a member of explosive ordnance disposal unit, which handles the removal of explosive devices in the City.

Both Briggs and Chan have served with the department for 13 years.

Each public information officer serves for a two-year period. Briggs and Chan replace Sgt. Vance Chandler and Officer Marcus Basquez, effective immediately.

“I am confident that Sgt. Sabrina Briggs and Officer Karl Chan will do a phenomenal job and keep the public informed with timely and accurate information,” said Sacramento Police Sgt. Vance Chandler.
