Leaf season is almost over. Take advantage of the season’s final pile pickup

If you’ve been putting off cleaning up the leaves and debris in your yard, now is the time to get out the rake.

The last day City of Sacramento yard waste customers can put piles of green waste in the street for pickup is Jan. 26. Claw crews will be making one more rotation through the city for pickup between Jan. 27 and Feb. 5.

“The City’s leaf season essentially runs Nov. 1 to late January,” said Erin Treadwell, community outreach and media manager for the City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division. “After that, customers are expected to put their yard waste in their green bins. That is, until next fall arrives, and the Claw once again returns.”

Here are some leaf pile guidelines:

Weekly residential yard waste container collection will continue year-round. Residents can utilize a free household junk appointment for large pruning jobs that occur in the spring. Those appointments are available February through October. Customers can either call 311 or go to sac311.org to schedule an appointment.
