Learn about youth employment opportunities at the City’s resource fair April 6

Young people looking to get connected with local employers are invited to attend the City’s annual Youth Resource & Employment Fair on Saturday, April 6, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Located at City Hall (915 I St.), the event is open to all young people ages 13 to 24.

This year’s fair, hosted by the Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment (YPCE) Department, features a wide range of resources and employment opportunities including stipend-based programming and seasonal employment. More than 30 vendors from trades industries, higher education, financial institutions and more will be present providing information and support.

“We’re committed to empowering our youth by providing them with meaningful employment opportunities,” said Kris Wimberly, the City’s recreation superintendent for youth workforce development. “Through this event, we aim to connect young individuals with valuable pathways to professional growth and success.”

In addition to informational booths, attendees can take advantage of appointments to have a professional headshot taken and to create their online application account, which is required for all City employment opportunities.

Opportunities with the City include stipend-based programs, internships, and seasonal and career employment.

Attendees will receive a free swag bag, while supplies last, and additional raffle giveaway opportunities during the event.

Those interested in attending can register online ahead of time and on the day of the event.
