Here is how to properly dispose of fireworks, hot coals and propane tanks

Summer is officially here, and for many Sacramento residents, this means celebrating Fourth of July and other community events with barbecue grilling and fireworks displays.

The Recycling and Solid Waste Division wants to remind those celebrating about the importance of using safe practices when disposing of fireworks, briquettes, and propane tanks after a gathering.

“We want to encourage residents to be extra careful when disposing of fireworks, briquettes, and propane tanks, due to the potential for these materials to cause a fire,” said Jesa David, spokesperson for the Division.

Residents should follow the guidelines below when disposing of these materials.

City waste collection services will occur as usual on Independence Day, Thursday, July 4, 2024. More information on Recycling and Solid Waste services can be found at www.sacrecycle.org.
