City seeks operator for Meadowview Certified Farmers Market

The City of Sacramento is inviting proposals for the management of the Meadowview Certified Farmers Market, with operations set to begin in spring 2025. The deadline for submitting applications is 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 24.

Located at the Meadowview Light Rail parking lot, the market provides fresh, affordable produce while supporting local farmers and entrepreneurs.

Funding for the market was secured by Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen through the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The market is managed in collaboration with the City’s Office of Innovation and Economic Development and Councilmember Mai Vang, who represents the district.

“Our vision for the Meadowview Certified Farmers Market is to create a vibrant, inclusive space that connects residents with local farmers, small businesses, and one another,” said Vang. “This is more than a market—it’s an opportunity to foster community empowerment and economic opportunity in the heart of Meadowview.”

The market’s first year was successfully launched in partnership with Alchemist Community Development Corporation under a one-year contract. The City is now seeking a long-term operator through a professional services agreement valued at $320,000.
