The City of Sacramento selected 16 nonprofits, businesses and individuals to receive grant funds through the Forward Together pilot grant program. A total of $600,000 will be used in the Marysville–Del Paso Boulevard commercial corridor and adjacent neighborhoods.
“This grant funding represents our commitment to bringing back North Sacramento,” said Councilmember Roger Dickinson, who represents the area. “This community-led effort will build strength and sustainability through economic revitalization, enhanced community well-being, displacement prevention, increased community engagement, long-term infrastructure investment and local business support.”
Managed by the Neighborhood Development Action Team (NDAT), the Forward Together pilot grant program funds community-led initiatives that align with the adopted Forward Together Action Plan. The program supports projects that enhance housing, employment, retail, and community experiences.
Key projects include:
- D2 Thrives Initiative: A collaboration with CLTRE, Mutual Assistance Network, Del Paso Partnership, and others to provide small business assistance, activate vacant properties, improve cleanliness, and develop a housing agenda to support community stability.
- Greater Sacramento Urban League: Engaging residents to design and install decorative banners along Marysville-Del Paso Boulevard, celebrating Del Paso Heights’ history, culture, and notable figures to foster neighborhood pride.
- Uptown Beats & Eats: A free, all-ages community event featuring breakdancing, music, and local food vendors, aimed at activating underutilized spaces, strengthening community bonds, and boosting local businesses.

“The Forward Together pilot grants mark another exciting investment for the residents, businesses, community-based organizations and all care holders of District 2,” says Assistant City Manager Michael Jasso. “The investment into establishing the NDAT by City Council helps bring successful programs like this forward, and I’m excited to see the tangible benefits that come to the Marysville-Del Paso Blvd Corridor and surrounding neighborhoods.”
Funding for this grant program is supported by Measure U funds and managed by the City’s Neighborhood Development Action Team, with additional funding from the Office of Arts and Culture to amplify creative activation along the corridor.
These latest awards build upon a $5 million federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation set aside for City Council District 2. Other ARPA investments include nearly $1 million in façade grants to beautify North Sacramento storefronts and more than $2.3 million in grants and loans to District 2 community-based organizations and businesses.
