The results from the City of Sacramento’s latest community survey are in and available for easy viewing through an interactive online dashboard.
The survey, conducted by the City Auditor’s Office, asked residents for feedback about the quality of life and services in Sacramento, including safety, mobility, parks and recreation, the economy, and community connection.
A randomly selected sample of 7,500 households received invitations to participate between Jan. 2 and Feb. 13, 2026. A total of 450 residents completed the survey, providing a statistically representative snapshot of community sentiment.
Key takeaways from the 2026 survey include:
- Quality of life: About two-thirds of residents rated the overall quality of life in Sacramento as excellent or good, an increase from the previous survey.
- Parks and recreation: 64 percent of residents gave positive ratings to parks and recreation opportunities, a notable improvement from 2023.
- Community connection: 56 percent of residents said Sacramento does a good job making people feel welcome, while 65 percent said the city attracts people from diverse backgrounds.
- Transportation and streets: Fewer than half of residents rated traffic flow on major streets positively, and fewer than one in five gave positive ratings to street repair.
- Measure U priorities: Residents identified affordable housing and homeless services, community-based mental health and public safety as top priorities for Measure U funding.
In addition to the random sample, an open-participation portion of the survey was open to all City residents, with the 1,454 responses analyzed separately. These results are also available through the online dashboard.
“The community survey gives us an important snapshot of how residents experience life in Sacramento,” City Auditor Farishta Ahrary said. “The results help City leaders understand what is working well and where residents want to see continued improvement.”
The survey results will be presented to the City Council on March 17 at 2 p.m.
