Sacramento celebrates Earth Day, April 22

The Neighborhood Services Division of the Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting its annual free Earth Day Celebration on Wednesday, April 22,  at Cesar Chavez Park, 910 I St., across from Historic City Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

As America shifts toward a ‘green culture,’ millions of Americans are embracing the responsibility of preserving the environment and Sacramento, along with the state of California, is at the forefront of this change.  The City of Sacramento is proud to be part of this annual celebration.

Come out and join us for fun and interactive free day of green education, carnival games, and great entertainment.  More than 50 local vendors will be providing information and demonstrations about how you can join the ‘Green Team.’

The Earth Day Celebration 2015 will include:

  • Sustainable Gardening
  • Water Conservation Tips
  • Environmental Sustainability & Preservation
  • Recycling & Composting
  • Informational take-aways on sustainable living
  • Fuel efficient trucks, cars & bus

Interactive and hands-on games, activities and educational experiences for children, students and adults.

Live entertainment featuring:

  • Live demonstrations by the Troops for Fitness team
  • EarthCapades
  • The Science Wizard
  • Top Class Magic featuring Magician Bill Devon
  • Face Painting, Carnival Games & Balloon Artist

Also, don’t forget to swing by the City Hall Parking Garage, at the corner of 10th and I Streets, for an earth-colored light display at night!
