City celebrates groundbreaking of Fire Station 15

On Friday, July 21, Mayor Darrell Steinberg, Councilmember Jeff Harris, Fire Chief Walt White, City staff, and community members celebrated the groundbreaking of Fire Station 15. With its new location on West El Camino Avenue, this future site will eventually replace current Fire Station 15, located on Newborough Drive.

This project will bring a larger fire station to the area, providing the department with greater service capabilities, improve overall emergency response time for the community being served, and reasonable accommodations for staff. The 9,311-square-foot station will be Certified LEED silver, designed to recognize the architectural character of the neighborhood, and will sleep up to 10 fire fighters.
