Have questions following redistricting? The City’s updated ‘Find Your District’ tool can help

The City of Sacramento has updated its “Find Your District” tool to reflect the recent redistricting process and election.

Residents can access the tool by clicking here.

“We hope this tool will help the public to quickly and efficiently access information about their districts and Council representatives,” said Maria MacGunigal, the City’s chief information officer.

By entering their address, residents can see their current district/Councilmember and when that may change.

The City will update the tool in December to reflect new Councilmembers as they are sworn in. That update also will reflect the Council’s decision to have Mayor Darrell Steinberg provide constituent support in the voting deferral areas at that time.

The Sacramento Independent Redistricting Commission in December 2021 adopted a new Council district boundary map, based on the 2020 decennial census. Due to a significant increase in the city’s population, including growth in certain geographic areas across Sacramento, the map made various changes to Council district boundaries.

The changes precipitated robust discussion about their effects on voters and constituents. In April 2022, the City Council discussed those effects and voted on a plan to serve constituencies most affected by the changes. The Council also directed the preparation of an amendment to the City Charter to clarify the implementation of new redistricting maps.

The City Council on July 26 adopted a resolution to place the amendment on the Nov. 8 ballot.

Residents also can access an interactive map with both new and old Council districts by clicking here.
