The City of Sacramento is now accepting applications from property owners and tenants in North Sacramento’s key commercial corridors to receive up to $30,000 in matching grant funds for exterior building improvements.
Previously restricted to businesses on Marysville and Del Paso Boulevard, the grant is now available to those located on Arcade Boulevard, Arden Way, El Camino Avenue, Eleanor Avenue, Grand Avenue, Norwood Avenue and Rio Linda Boulevard.
Led by the City Council District 2 Office, the grants program was created to help the North Sacramento small business and real estate community recover from the negative economic impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our expanded grant program is a crucial step in revitalizing North Sacramento’s commercial corridors,” said Councilmember Shoun Thao, who represents the district. “By extending these opportunities to more businesses, we are fostering economic recovery and enhancing the vibrancy of our community. This initiative will not only support local entrepreneurs but also contribute to the overall growth and resilience of our district.”
Eligible activities include, but are not limited to:
- Exterior painting
- Installation of new façade elements including signs, awnings, canopies, lighting, windows, entrance doors, stucco, siding, tile, or stone accents
- Construction of new and permanent outdoor dining or gathering spaces
- Restoration of original architectural features
A total of $500,000 is available from a $5 million Federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) allocation set aside for the “North Sacramento Economic Recovery Plan,” which was approved as part of the City Council’s ARP spending framework.
Grant awards totaling $5,000 or less do not require a match. Any amount more than $5,000 requires a 50% match.
Those interested can find eligibility requirements and apply by visiting the City’s website.
Applications are due by Aug. 5.
