Join City of Sacramento staff and community partners for a day of aquatic education and fun at an upcoming water safety day event.
The free event is Sunday, May 26 from 1-4 p.m. at the Pannell Meadowview Pool (2450 Meadowview Rd.).
Attendees can take part in free recreational swim while taking in safety tips, interactive demonstrations, lifejacket fittings and more.
“City pools are a great place to get more comfortable being in the water,” said Sjon Swanson, recreation superintendent with the City’s Youth, Parks & Community Enrichment (YPCE) Department. “May is Water Safety Month and we want to educate and empower the community to be safe while enjoying their summer.”
During the event instructors will lead stations covering safety topics on drowning prevention, recognizing hazards, and staying safe in various environments.
The pool will be heated for swimming and to practice water safety skills during the event.
All ages are welcome to join and normal pool rules apply. Participants are required to wear swimming attire in the water.
Non-swimmers must be accompanied by an adult within arms’ reach while in the water. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
North Natomas Aquatics Complex is currently open for recreational swimming and Clunie Pool will be open Monday, May 27 from 1– 4 p.m. Additional neighborhood pools and play/wading pools will open in June.
