Attention animal enthusiasts: Front Street Animal Shelter is hiring for multiple positions

The City of Sacramento’s Front Street Animal Shelter is currently hiring for a number of important positions to serve the animals and people of Sacramento.

Front Street Animal Shelter works to shelter lost and stray animals while enforcing local and state animal welfare laws. The shelter’s diverse range of adoption, volunteer, and public-outreach programs reflect its commitment to improving animal welfare throughout the community.

“Each position at the shelter serves a critical role,” said Ryan Hinderman, communications and customer service manager. “With such a range of job opportunities, there many ways to apply one’s unique talents to make our community a better place.”

Working with animal care can be a rewarding career in helping to change the lives of animals, Hinderman said. Whether it be treating them for health issues, helping them to get back to their owners, or finding them a new loving home, there are many ways to help save lives.

Several entry level jobs, as well as positions with advanced requirements, are currently available:

Animal Care Technician

Provides daily feeding, cleaning, basic medical care and adoption counseling.

$43,280.02 – $60,899.33 annually

Senior Animal Care Technician

Supervises and trains Animal Care Technician staff and makes animal care-related decisions.

$48,662.45 – $68,472.96 annually

Animal Control Officer I

Enforces animal laws, promotes animal welfare, and keeps the community safe for animals and people.

Animal Control Officer II

Performs similar duties to Animal Control Officer 1 but with greater knowledge and experience required.
