The City of Sacramento’s District 3 Council Office is awarding $200,000 in grants to fund exterior storefront improvements for 23 locations along Northgate Boulevard.
The Northgate Boulevard Storefront Improvement Grant Program was available to small businesses with street frontage on the commercial corridor. It provided funding for various exterior improvements, including new paint, signs, doors, windows, and awnings.
“I am thrilled to be helping our Northgate Boulevard small business owners with beautification of storefronts,” said Mayor Pro Tem Karina Talamantes, who represents District 3. “Small businesses make up the heart and soul of South Natomas and helping them improve their exterior façades will catalyze many other community benefits such as attracting more visitors to come shop and dine.”

The storefront improvement funding is part of a $5 million federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation set aside for Northgate Boulevard.
Other ARPA investments in the council district include: partnering with the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to provide a variety of small business assistance services; supporting various Gardenland Northgate nonprofits with post-COVID-19 pandemic recovery; helping to fund the replacement of the existing fences on the west side of Northgate Boulevard with a decorative concrete wall from West El Camino Avenue to Bowman Avenue and from Potomac Avenue to Winterhaven Avenue; and installing 42 new street pole banners to activate and brand the corridor.
