The Sacramento community is invited to a free paint-and-skate day at the 28th and B Street Skate Park in Sutter’s Landing Regional Park on Saturday, March 15.
“Art and recreation go hand-in-hand, and this free family event is a great way to celebrate both,” said the City’s Art in Public Places Manager Donald Gensler. “We encourage the community to stop by, help paint the mural, or simply enjoy the lively atmosphere.”
From 1 to 4 p.m., community members can join ORLUarts artist Liv Unger for a paint day inside the skate park to help create a new mural for the ticket booth. The event celebrates her upcoming vinyl mural, “The Living Balance,” which will soon be installed on an exterior wall.
Participants can contribute to the ticket booth mural, enjoy a free skate session, and meet new friends at the park. Those who are skating must sign a waiver, which can be completed online. The skate park will be open during its regular hours from 1 to 8:45 p.m.
The mural is a paint-by-number design, allowing individuals of all skill levels to take part in the painting process. The design incorporates elements inspired by “The Living Balance,” and all supplies will be provided.
This project is supported by the City of Sacramento’s Office of Arts and Culture through the Art in Public Places program and funded in part by a State of California grant, in collaboration with the City’s Youth, Parks, and Community Enrichment Department.
Those interested in attending can register online here.
