Check out the latest upgrades at Sacramento parks

Sacramento residents and visitors can now enjoy new updates to the City’s parks and recreation system, which spans over 4,358 acres and includes 237 parks, 115 miles of shared-use paths, and numerous open space areas. These recent improvements enhance opportunities for exercise, relaxation, and community engagement.

The City’s Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment (YPCE) Department continues to maintain these spaces, ensuring parks, bike trails, and historic landmarks like the Old City Cemetery remain clean, safe, and accessible year-round.

Visitors to Southside Park, Hampton Park, and North Laguna Creek Park will find new amenities aimed at enhancing their outdoor experience, thanks to recent upgrades by the Park Maintenance team.

The east side of Southside Park now features 11 new picnic tables, three BBQ grills, four charcoal bins, four benches, and 10 waste receptacles. Additionally, seven new family picnic areas, a group picnic spot, and two scenic seating areas overlooking the pond have been added. Concrete pads for the installations were poured in November, with furniture officially put in place this week.

Hampton Park has also received key improvements, including two new benches, a BBQ grill, a charcoal bin, eight waste receptacles, and a service table.

North Laguna Creek Park has seen similar upgrades, including six new benches, four BBQ grills, two charcoal bins, six waste receptacles, one group BBQ, and three picnic tables. These additions provide more seating and cooking spaces, making it an ideal location for gatherings and outdoor activities.

“These upgrades create inviting spaces for families and friends to gather, enjoy the outdoors, and make lasting memories,” said Shawn Aylesworth, the City’s park maintenance manager. “Investing in our parks ensures that our community has safe, clean, and beautiful spaces to enjoy for years to come.”

Additional improvements are expected at Del Rio Trail and other City parks in the coming weeks.
