Sacramento hosted a major Hollywood production early last year as downtown streets were transformed for “One Battle After Another.” The newly released trailer for the film, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, opens with a scene inside La Superior Market on Northgate Blvd and features other Sacramento locations like the Railyards and downtown streets.
The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro, and Sean Penn, with several sequences filmed across the city.
The City of Sacramento’s Film and Media Office collaborated closely with Warner Bros. Pictures to facilitate a smooth execution of the project, handling crucial aspects such as securing locations and permits. The office liaised with several City departments to manage logistics, including parking, security and street closures.
“Having a major production like this in Sacramento is a testament to our city’s growing reputation as a prime filming destination,” said Sacramento Film Commissioner Jennifer West. “Not only does it showcase our incredible locations, but it also creates jobs and boosts local businesses.”
The production brought an economic boost to Sacramento, with 16 days of filming, over 3,700 hotel stays, and more than $5.3 million spent locally.
“One Battle After Another” is scheduled for theatrical release on September 26, 2025.
