The Meadowview Certified Farmers Market will reopen for the 2025 season on Sunday, May 4, with new vendors, entertainment and family-friendly activities to celebrate its return.
The grand reopening, hosted by operator Alchemist Community Development Corporation (Alchemist CDC), will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Meadowview Light Rail Station (3501 Meadowview Road).
To celebrate the reopening, visitors can enjoy free face painting, a DJ from MK Mobile Music and live performances, including a 10 a.m. show by Oak Park’s youth dance troupe, Confidence Is Everything, and a noon set from the Fortune School Drumline. As part of the day’s festivities, attendees can also enter a free drawing to win a bicycle—no need to be present to win.
Funding for the market was secured by Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen through the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The market is managed in collaboration with the City’s Office of Innovation and Economic Development and Councilmember Mai Vang, who represents the district.
“The Meadowview Certified Farmers Market is more than a seasonal event, it’s a community space grounded in connection, food justice, and opportunities,” Vang said. “Access to fresh, healthy, and culturally relevant produce is essential to the well-being of our neighborhoods, and this market helps expand those opportunities for historically underserved areas in South Sacramento. We’re excited for the return of the farmers market—when we support our local farmers and entrepreneurs, we activate our vacant lots, address food insecurity, and strengthen our local food system.”
“We learned so much about what the community wants and needs from the Meadowview Certified Farmers Market last year and are excited to bring it back for the season with more vendors, a wider range of products, new family activities, and delicious local fruits and vegetables,” said Alchemist CDC Executive Director Sam Greenlee. “This market is a love letter to Meadowview and the surrounding neighborhoods and a great place to enjoy and support small businesses.”
This season’s market brings a vibrant selection of fresh produce, hot meals, handcrafted goods and packaged food products that showcase local flavors. Shoppers can look forward to farm-fresh offerings from vendors such as J&J Ramos, Golden Honey Bees, Ayson’s Nursery, and Mae Baan Farm, along with eggs, flowers, and microgreens. Prepared foods include items from Alchemist Kitchen Eats, Mama Vang’s, and Island Fin Poke, as well as baked goods, coffee, lemonade, and spices.
The market will be open every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, from May 4 through Oct. 26, and is currently seeking additional vendors.
The Meadowview Certified Farmers Market accepts CalFresh/EBT and offers Market Match nutrition incentives, matching up to $15 of EBT benefits and SUN Bucks each week.
Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) is offering free rides to the grand opening from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. on May 4 only. Riders can print or screenshot this flyer and present it to ride SacRT bus operator or fare inspector on the light rail.
