Sacramento hospitality industry invited to attend upcoming ‘Stop the Bleed’ training

The City of Sacramento’s Office of Nighttime Economy is partnering with UC Davis Health to offer “Stop the Bleed” training for hospitality and nighttime businesses from 3-4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 19.

The Stop the Bleed training equips participants with life-saving skills to quickly and effectively control severe bleeding in critical situations, helping to enhance community safety and preparedness.

The training will be held at 300 Richards Blvd., Room 221, with free parking available. Space is limited, so RSVPs are encouraged. Email nighttime@cityofsacramento.org to RSVP or if you have any additional questions.

This free session is led by trauma nurse practitioners, nurses, and physicians from UC Davis Health. The training teaches essential bleeding control techniques—such as applying tourniquets, wound packing, and direct pressure—that are vital during emergencies, disasters, or high-casualty events when emergency services may be overwhelmed.

“It’s important that people in Sacramento feel equipped to act in an emergency,” said the City’s Nighttime Economy Manager Tina Lee-Vogt. “The training supports our broader efforts to build a community that’s not only prepared but confident when facing critical moments.”

The City also hosts quarterly trainings to provide information to help nighttime businesses operate safely. Training and information are provided by the Office of Nighttime Economy, Code Compliance, Sacramento Police, and Sacramento Fire staff.
