The City of Sacramento is seeking proposals from experienced restaurateurs, entrepreneurs, and creative operators to bring new life to a waterfront space at 1110 Front Street in Old Sacramento next to Joe’s Crab Shack.
The opportunity includes an indoor restaurant and large outdoor dining areas along the Sacramento River and the newly renovated Embarcadero boardwalk.
“This waterfront location is a cornerstone of Old Sacramento, and probably the most unique and high-profile opportunity in all of Northern California” said Councilmember Phil Pluckebaum who represents the area. “We want an operator to bring a concept that draws both locals and tourists, and highlights Sacramento’s food scene.”
The existing outdoor deck is in the process of being demolished; reconstruction will begin shortly, with substantial completion expected this fall. Once completed, the 3,200-square-foot deck will offer expansive views of the Sacramento River and provide ample space for outdoor dining and events.
Combined with the 5,300-square-foot indoor area and additional seating along the Embarcadero, the property offers more than 10,000 square feet of leasable space.
In addition to traditional restaurant uses, the City will consider proposals for high-quality entertainment, cultural, or performance-based concepts that activate the waterfront and attract foot traffic.
Operators may also apply for an adjacent walk-up café space in the Old Steamers building, further enhancing potential revenue and visibility.
Proposals are due August 29 via the City’s online bid portal.
These improvements are part of the City’s Waterfront Reinvestment Program, a multi-phase effort to modernize infrastructure, enhance public space and increase tourism. Additional plans include market building renovations, dock and barge repairs, and new opportunities for community events and cultural engagement.
