Free All-Star Weekend event coming to the Old Sacramento Waterfront

A free, family-friendly All-Star Weekend Experience is coming to the Old Sacramento Waterfront on Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13, offering games, giveaways and baseball-themed fun for all ages.

The event is hosted by the City of Sacramento and is part of its ongoing effort to activate the Old Sacramento Waterfront and support local businesses. It is presented in collaboration with the Downtown Sacramento Partnership and 3fold Communications.

Timed to coincide with the Oakland Athletics’ weekend homestand at Sutter Health Park just across the Tower Bridge, the event will be held at the Old Sacramento State Historic Park and runs Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“The Old Sacramento Waterfront really is a gem in our City,” said Councilmember Phil Pluckebaum, who represents the Old Sacramento Waterfront district. “This event is specifically meant to bring locals, families, parents and kids, grandparents and neighbors back to our historic district. Major League Baseball right here plus the All Star Weekend festivities is the perfect opportunity to do just that.”

Attendees can enjoy a Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby, custom baseball card photo booth, bounce houses, a “Cool Down Zone,” and a visit from A’s mascot Stomper. Local businesses are also participating in the Grand Slam Card challenge, where guests can collect stamps at shops and restaurants to earn free merchandise (while supplies last).
