Discover creativity in Natomas through a public art crawl Sept. 13

The Sacramento community is invited to take part in a self-guided art crawl on Saturday, Sept. 13, as part of “Second Saturday in Natomas.”

The Public Art Crawl will run from 8 a.m. to noon and highlights dozens of public art pieces located throughout Natomas in both District 1 and District 3. Participants are encouraged to explore at their own pace, with the opportunity to make the crawl as short or as long as they like.

“Second Saturday in Natomas is a long-standing and beloved tradition which highlights and grows our local arts community,” said Vice Mayor Karina Talamantes, who represents District 3. “This art crawl is an opportunity for residents to discover public art, connect with neighbors and celebrate the creativity that brings so much life to our city.”

The crawl is intended to be a “choose your own” experience. According to organizers, it could take up to seven hours to view all the art pieces featured in Natomas.

“This is a great way for people to experience the creativity that is represented in Natomas,” said Councilmember Lisa Kaplan, who represents District 1. “The art crawl is designed so you can spend just a couple of hours or make a full day of it. I’m looking forward to bringing more events and activities like this to North Natomas.”

Those starting in District 1 can begin at North Natomas Community Park. In District 3, the starting point is South Natomas Community Center. Visitors are encouraged to use the City’s public art GIS mapping tool to guide their exploration. Event organizers and volunteers will also be stationed at both starting points to welcome participants and provide guidance with postcards and other materials.
