The SAFE Credit Union Convention and Performing Arts District has welcomed a new official leader. After holding the role of Interim General Manager since February 2025, Jonathan Wiser has been named the District’s next General Manager and began his role on Oct. 4.
Wiser, offers more than 25 years of experience in convention centers, hotels and destination sales. He has served as Deputy General Manager since 2015 for the District, with prior experience as director of sales and marketing with major hotels such as Doubletree by Hilton and Hilton Arden West and Sheraton Grand Sacramento.
“Jonathan’s combination of experience, vision, and leadership for the past 10 years with the City make him the right person to guide the District into its next chapter,” said Megan Van Voorhis, City of Sacramento director of Convention and Cultural Services. “I’m excited to see how his dedication and expertise will continue to strengthen our connection with partners, residents and visitors alike.”
“I am looking forward to this new opportunity and supporting the region by activating the SAFE Credit Union Convention and Performing Arts District with a consistent calendar of conventions, live entertainment, and community events,” said, Wiser. “The District’s venues drive both out of town visitors that stay in our hotels as well as regional and local visitors to experience our world class facilities, diverse dining options, nightlife, museums and welcoming community.
In his new position, Wiser will oversee operations for the SAFE Credit Union Convention & Performing Arts District, working to maximize venue utilization, enhance guest experience, expand community engagement, and strengthen partnerships that support the City’s arts, entertainment and tourism objectives.

The SAFE Credit Union Convention & Performing Arts District includes three of Sacramento’s premier public venues: the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center, and the Memorial Auditorium. Together, these facilities host a diverse range of events, from conventions, trade shows and community gatherings to Broadway performances and concerts, helping drive the city’s cultural vitality and economic growth.
