Free trainings support safety for Sacramento nighttime industry

The City of Sacramento’s Office of Nighttime Economy will host two free upcoming events designed to support and educate the Sacramento nighttime hospitality industry.

These events, to be held at 300 Richards Blvd., Room 221, will provide valuable training and information to help businesses operate safely and effectively.

“Building a vibrant nightlife requires collaboration and education, and these trainings are one way we bring people together to achieve that,” said Tina Lee-Vogt, the City’s nighttime economy manager.

Nov. 6 from 3-5 p.m.
“Safe Night Out” Training with WEAVE

This free, two-hour training and certification program educates bar and restaurant staff on sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, and bystander intervention. Led by WEAVE, this interactive session will provide nightlife staff with critical knowledge on recognizing and responding to sexual and domestic violence. RSVPs are encouraged by emailing nighttime@cityofsacramento.org.

Nov. 13 from 3-4:30 p.m.
“Stop the Bleed” Training with UC Davis Health

This free training offers vital information and resources necessary for stopping bleeding in the event of an injury. In situations like disasters or high-casualty incidents, emergency services may be overwhelmed. This 90-minute in-person class, taught by trauma nurse practitioners, nurses, and physicians from UC Davis Health, will focus on basic bleeding control techniques. RSVPs are encouraged by emailing nighttime@cityofsacramento.org.

Both events will provide attendees with valuable insights and practical skills to enhance the safety and management of their establishments.

Training information can be found on the City’s website.
