Learn how to navigate public event permitting at the City’s ‘Sac Scenes & Sounds’ training Nov. 12

The City of Sacramento’s Entertainment Services Division is offering “Sac Scenes & Sounds: Navigating Special Event Permitting in Public Spaces,” a new training opportunity to help event organizers plan and permit events in Sacramento’s public spaces.

The first session will be held Nov. 12 at the Coloma Community Center Auditorium (4623 T St.). Doors will open at 3 p.m., and RSVPs are required through Eventbrite. Topics for this session include fire prevention and waste compliance.

“This new training is about empowering organizers with the tools and knowledge to create meaningful experiences for our community,” said Program Manager Melissa Romero. “By supporting event planners at every level, we’re helping to strengthen Sacramento’s event community and foster more vibrant, well-organized gatherings in public spaces across the city.”

A Special Event Permit is required to use all or any part of a public street, sidewalk or alley for a gathering of more than 50 people and is also required for park activities that meet certain conditions.

The Sac Scenes & Sounds training helps event organizers understand the City’s special event permitting process and provides opportunities to network and engage directly with City staff.

This training is part of the City’s ongoing effort to support both new and experienced organizers in planning and hosting successful events in public spaces throughout the city.
