Streets are closing Dec. 5-7 for the California International Marathon. Here’s where

Thousands of runners are expected to participate in the 42nd California International Marathon on Sunday, Dec. 7.

With a course that has remained unchanged since its inception, the marathon will temporarily close several streets in downtown, midtown and East Sacramento.

The 26.2-mile race starts near the Folsom Dam and ends at the California State Capitol.

Streets affected by the marathon reopen Sunday afternoon (see details below).

Friday, Dec. 5 at 6 a.m. to Sunday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.

  • Capitol Mall from 10th to 7th streets
  • 10th Street from L to N streets
  • 9th Street from L to N streets
  • 8th Street from L to N streets

Saturday Dec. 6 at 8 a.m. to Sunday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.

  • Capitol Mall from 5th to 7th streets

The marathon course closes additional streets on Sunday from 7 a.m. and will re-open once runners are clear.

For up-to-date road closure information and closure avoidance, organizers recommend using Waze and Google Maps navigation services through the weekend.
