Want to save money on your utility bill? See if you qualify for this City assistance program

The City’s Department of Utilities staff are reminding residents about the Utility Rate Assistance program that can help residents in need save on water, sewer and garbage services.

“Now may be a good time to check if you qualify for the program, which can save hundreds of dollars annually for eligible customers,” said Carlos Eliason, a spokesperson for the City’s Department of Utilities.

Who is eligible?

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Pay for City of Sacramento for water, sewer and garbage services
  • Live at the property that receives these services and have the City utility bill in their name
  • Have a household that meets the income-eligibility requirements or participate in SMUD’s Energy Assistance Program Rate

Eligible residents can save up to $650 a year on their utility bills, depending on the services they receive.
