Workshop planned for H Street Bikeway project

Residents, bicyclists, business owners, and neighbors are invited to take part in an upcoming community workshop focused on the H Street Bikeway to Sacramento Valley Station project. The workshop will be held Thursday, February 26 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Sacramento City Hall (915 I St., Room 1119).

The H Street Bikeway project aims to create a two-way, separated bikeway on the south side of H Street between 5th and 10th streets. By providing a safer and low-stress connection between downtown Sacramento, surrounding neighborhoods, and the Sacramento Valley Station, the bikeway is part of the City’s broader effort to enhance active transportation infrastructure.

At the workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • Learn about project goals, design concepts, and corridor plans.
  • Review proposed improvements along the H Street corridor.
  • Provide feedback and share priorities related to cycling, walking, safety, and access that will help guide the next design phases.

“We’re excited to bring the community into the conversation as we work to make H Street a safer, more comfortable route for cyclists and pedestrians traveling to the Sacramento Valley Station,” said Cecilyn Foote, Associate Engineer with the Department of Public Works. “Your input helps us tailor the design so that it reflects the needs of the people who live, work, and travel here every day.”

The H Street Bikeway will tie into Sacramento’s expanding separated bikeway network, linking to existing separated bikeways on nearby streets and offering improved access to Sacramento Valley Station — one of the region’s key transit hubs.

All members of the public are welcome to attend and share their perspectives. Bike parking is available on the plaza between the old and new City Hall on 10th Street and on the 9th Street side.
