Event organizers can learn how to plan gatherings in Sacramento’s public spaces at an upcoming training on Feb. 26.
The City of Sacramento’s Entertainment Services Division will host “Sac Scenes & Sounds: Navigating Special Event Permitting in Public Spaces” from 3-4:30 p.m. at the North Natomas Community Center (2631 New Market Dr.).
A networking opportunity will be held from 2:30-3 p.m. Free parking is available on site. RSVPs are required through Eventbrite for this free event.
“This training is designed to provide organizers with clear guidance on the City’s permitting requirements and processes,” said Program Manager Melissa Romero. “When planners understand what is needed upfront, it helps ensure events are safe, organized and compliant with City regulations.”
A Special Event Permit is required to use all or part of a public street, sidewalk or alley for gatherings of more than 50 people and for certain activities in City parks.
To help organizers understand these requirements, the session will include representatives from Traffic Engineering, the Sacramento Police Department and Parking Services to discuss permitting considerations for events involving street closures. The training will also walk organizers through the application and review process, key timelines and practical tips to support effective planning.
Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and connect directly with City staff.
Training materials will be made available online following the session.
This training is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to support both new and experienced organizers in planning and hosting successful public gatherings throughout Sacramento.
