Sacramento documentary series to premiere with community screening at Aggie Square

A new Sacramento-produced documentary TV series examining plastic pollution and local sustainability efforts will debut this month with a free public screening and community event at Aggie Square.

Atrium 916, a recipient of Sacramento’s Film + Media grant program, will host the red carpet premiere of “Citizens of Planet Earth” from 6–8 p.m. March 13 at Aggie Square (4480 Second Ave.). The event is free, but advance registration is required through Eventbrite.

“This premiere highlights the strength of Sacramento’s creative workforce in a setting that brings the community together,” said Sacramento Film Commissioner Jennifer West. “Productions of this scale create meaningful opportunities for local cast and crew and reflect the capacity of our region’s film industry.”

Filmed in Sacramento, “Citizens of Planet Earth” explores the systems behind everyday waste and highlights people working on solutions to reduce plastic pollution.

The event will feature screenings of two episodes from the six-part series, followed by a panel conversation with participants and creators. A light reception will provide time for attendees to connect with the creative team and community members. Media will be present for coverage.

More than 104 local creative professionals contributed to the production. The project also received support from the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission and SMUD. Aggie Square is providing space for the premiere event.

The full series will begin airing the following day, March 14 on Channel Metro 14.
