The City’s Incident Management Team (IMT) received 596 calls for service last week and responded by engaging people experiencing homelessness, offering services and shelter options, and ensuring compliance with City laws and ordinances.

From March 2-8, the IMT responded to 593 unique locations.

Most client intakes through the Department of Community Response (DCR) were for the City’s Roseville Road Service Campus, which was recently expanded.

DCR has been working to incrementally fill the 100 new tiny homes on the north side of the campus, deliberatively moving at a measured pace to allow service provider The Gathering Inn to successfully engage and orient each client upon entry.

The new tiny homes, made by Boss Cubez, are small but dignified according to staff. At 70 square feet, they have room for a single bed, shelving, and a personal storage container. Guests are provided with clean bedding and toiletries upon entry. The homes also feature individual heating and air conditioning units for climate control.

“People really like the personal space provided by these tiny homes,” said Hezekiah Allen, who manages DCR’s community outreach division. “Almost every offer of these homes is accepted, and we anticipate reaching capacity at the north campus very soon.”

DCR outreach workers this week continued to engage people experiencing homelessness on the Northern Bike Trail, bringing 43 new clients into Roseville Road. The department expects to completely fill the north campus by early April.
