From the ashes rose the new McKinley Park Playground

If you haven’t visited the newly rebuilt McKinley Park Playground, make a point to stop by this fall. You’ve got to see it to believe it.

The park re-opened this summer with a new obstacle course, tree house and climbing wall. A fire destroyed a large portion of the park in July 2012.

With an effort led by Councilman Steve Cohn, the park was rebuilt with the help of more than 2200 volunteers with an in-kind labor donation valued at over $300,000, and over $375,000 in cash and in-kind donations.  In total, the value of the playground is approximately $1.5 million.
