On January 10, the City’s civic engagement tool turns one year old. We launched this comprehensive community involvement website with the idea that citizens can engage, communicate and collaborate with city leaders and other residents on civic projects and issues without leaving your home.
Since the start, we now have more than 1,700 participants, received more than 800 ideas, had over 13,000 visitors, and generated more than 70,000 page views.
We have had a number of topics to gather your suggestions—on the downtown arena, naming the train station in the Railyards, your favorite park in the city, how to curb illegal dumping, and more! Because of citizen input, it helped to shape the many projects and programs the city is working on.
We want to continue the momentum in 2014! In fact, right now, there are several topics on the site that we need your ideas, suggestions and thoughts.
- What types of data would you like to see on the Open Data website?
- How can we make our community an economically and globally competitive place to work and live?
