Meet Craig Wiedenhoeft, a Battalion Chief with Sacramento Fire. A firefighter for 34 years and 26 years with our very own department, Craig got hooked when he took a Regional Occupational Program (ROP) fire science class in high school. From there Craig said that he has never looked back.
Before being promoted to Captain in 1996, Craig was a firefighter since 1988. As a Captain, he taught recruiting classes as a drill instructor and served in the training division as an in-service training officer. It was in 2005 he was promoted to Battalion Chief.
“The thing I like best is the folks I work with. They are a second family to me,” Craig mentions about working with Sacramento Fire.
Craig has three children and four grandchildren. And his passion? Alpine climbing and backpacking the Sierras.
