City hosts Fourth Annual Veterans Day Parade and Post Parade Event

Parade set for Tuesday, November 11, at 11 a.m.

Join the City of Sacramento in recognizing current members of our military and vets at the Fourth Annual Veterans Day Parade on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., on Capitol Mall between 3rd and 9th streets. After the parade, a post event will include: info booths, children’s activities, food trucks, and high school marching band contest. These activities will take place on 10th Street between L and N Streets.

This year’s Grand Marshal is Brigadier General Sylvia R. Crockett. Crockett made history on March 28, 2012 when she became the first Hispanic woman to achieve rank as a general officer in the history of the California National Guard.

Marching band contestants, to be judged on their performances by a panel, are Antelope High School Titan Marching Band and Color Guard, Natomas High School Drum Line, Sacramento Youth Band, West Campus High School Marching Band and Color Guard, and Florin High School Marching Panthers.

Route: Parade participants will start assembling at Crocker Park/City Parking Lot X at 8 a.m. From there the parade will head north on 3rd Street to Capitol Mall; east on Capitol Mall to 9th Street where the parade concludes with a the post parade event at the West Steps of the State Capitol at 10th Street.

Road closure info: 10th Street between N and L Streets will be closed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for post event activities.

Parking will not be available around Crocker Park or the two lots at Crocker Park.

The parade is sponsored by the City’s Neighborhood Services Division, Laborers Local 185, Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union No.447 and the Gately Foundation.
