9,000 runners expected for California International Marathon this weekend


The City is expected to see an estimated 9,000 marathon runners and 1,000 relay teams (teams of four) run the course for this year’s annual California International Marathon. Approximately 25,000 spectators’ are expected to line the course as it weaves through city streets. In addition to the marathon a kid’s 2.62 mile maraFUNrun and Fitness Walk will start at 8 a.m.

The race will begin in Folsom at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, and will end at the State Capitol. See traffic alerts page for details about parking and road closures. The complete closure of the course will be facilitated by the Sacramento Police Department.
