Dear Friends,

This last election day, voters in the Sacramento area put their trust in me and elected me to the State Assembly representing District 7.  I am truly honored and appreciate the support City residents have given me, not only through this election, but over the last ten years as a City Councilmember.  I have sincerely enjoyed representing Council District 6 and am proud of all we’ve accomplished together.

Over these last ten years, I’ve worked with neighborhood and business associations, non-profit organizations, schools, local businesses, and other government agencies, and together with the hard work of many City staff we have accomplished much.  Just a few of the projects that I enjoyed working on were tackling neighborhood issues, special neighborhood events, building and enhancing our parks and community centers, building community gardens, promoting clean energy and environmental programs, passing good government reforms, tackling gun violence, expanding youth programs, and leading Measure U to restore city services after years of cutbacks.

I want to sincerely thank all the residents of District 6 for their continued involvement in the betterment of the neighborhood and the City.  I could not have led so well these past ten years without your dedication to making Sacramento a great place to live.  I also want to thank the many City staff who have supported, guided, and assisted me in bringing all these great projects and many more to fruition.  Lastly, I want to thank Maria Alvarez and Aubrie Fong who staffed my office so well these past ten years.

As your new Assembly member, I will continue to seek your guidance and input on policies and issues I’ll be tackling for Sacramento and the State of California.  I’m excited and looking forward to pursuing progressive policy initiatives on behalf of our City.

A special election to fill the Council District 6 seat will be held on April 7th. Until that time, the District 6 Council office will continue to be staffed by the District Director Maria Alvarez with a new Executive Assistant, Darsey Varnedoe.  As always, please contact them with any issues or concerns at 916-808-7006 or via email at malvarez@cityofsacramento.org.

Thank you again!

Sincerely,

Kevin McCarty
