Front Street Animal Shelter is overloaded and needs your help!

The Front Street Animal Shelter is way over capacity and needs your help in providing animals with a loving home! The volunteers and staff members at the Front Street Animal Shelter provide as much tender loving care as they can, but being overloaded with animals means they need your help to adopt or foster an animal.

In one day, the shelter may receive anywhere from 25 to 80 animals a day. Many of the dogs that come into the shelter are either lost, abused, or abandoned. Although the shelter has a normal capacity of around 250 animals, they are currently at a whopping 400. It’s now in the hands of the residents of Sacramento to step up and make a difference in a dog’s life!

What are you waiting for? Head over to the shelter to find your best friend. The shelter is open five days a week, and every day, more and more animals crowd their facilities.

They’re even multiplying, with a litter of puppies having been born the night our most recent visit!

Every pet adoption from Front Street includes spay/neuter surgery, ID tag and collar, 1-year dog license for City residents, a microchip, and much more. If you are not able to provide a permanent home for a dog, you can foster the animals for as a long a time period that you are able commit. Even newborn pets need volunteer foster parents!

Volunteers help to socialize and train certain breeds of dogs, making them ultra adoptable! (And adorable)

It’s been said once, but it deserves being said again. The Front Street Shelter staff and volunteers can only do so much for these animals. They’re truly relying on generous foster and permanent homes from citizens like you.

If you can’t adopt, foster an animal. If you can’t foster, volunteer. If you can’t volunteer, donate. If you can’t do that, then please share the message!
