Looking for some fun to fill up your October schedule? The Crocker Art Museum is hosting tons of events for all ages! Whether you want to kick back in the courtyard and watch a classic film or dance the night away to live music, the Crocker Museum events this fall have just what you need. So bring out your friends and family and join in on these events!

 Public Art LIVE: “Silence Was Golden”

Saturday, October 3, 1-3PM

Be a part of a global public art experience! Join in on this event and on the discussion about “place” and what words perfectly describe what Sacramento means to you.  A few words from the community will be showcased by large gold balloons to be featured in a film.

Architecture Talk: The Modern Museum with Curtis Owyang

Thursday, October 8, 7 – 8 PM

October is an exciting month for the Crocker Art Museum. This month marks the 5th anniversary of its expansion and what better way to celebrate than to be a part of an innovative talk with Curtis Owyang, a principal at LPAS Architecture + Design and lead designer of Folsom Lake Visual & Performing Arts Center.

Crocker Birthday Bash – Celebration by Day

Saturday, October 10, 10 AM – 5 PM

You’re invited to the Crocker Art Museum birthday! It will be an exciting day full of exhibitions, live music, dance performances, and hands on art making! The Grand High School Drumline, Step 1 Dance Company, Natomas Chater School Singing Ensemble are just a few of the amazing performers that will be in attendance. Come celebrate!

Saturday, October 10, 8 PM – 12 AM

Come dance the night away to live music at the museum. Performers include Fantastic Negrito, winner of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Contest, Sizzling Sirens Burlesque Experience, and the City of Trees Brass Band. Buy your tickets here!

Classical Concert: Mirror Visions Ensemble

Make sure you save the date for the Crocker Museum’s Classical Concert event.  This event will feature the musical styling and poetry by the Mirror Visions Ensemble in honor of the final day of the Armin Hansen: The Artful Voyage exhibition on this lovely afternoon.

Artist Talk: Al Farrow and his “Divine Ammunition”

Sunday, October 18, 3 PM

You definitely do not want to miss Al Farrow’s one of a kind art. Al Farrow uses ammunition to create his finely detailed artwork. After displaying his work, he will discuss his journey with art. Audience members are encouraged to ask questions and share their feelings about his pieces of work.

Kingsley Art Club Lecture Series: Amy Trachtenberg, artist

Dia de los Muertos is almost upon us! Why not celebrate by joining the Crocker Museum in its celebration of Mexican culture, dance, and music? Dance the night away in the Crocker’s Courtyard.

Sunday, October 25, 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.  

It’s the Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday for honoring deceased loved ones! Join instructor Estella Sanchez in making sugar skulls from scratch, assembling altars, decorating masks, and much more. This event is perfect for the whole family.

 AIA Central Valley Presents: “Making Space: 5 Women Changing the Face of Architecture”

Sunday, October 25, 3 p.m.

Take part in a screening and panel discussion of “Making Space: 5 Women Changing the Face of Architecture.” This film takes you through the journey of Annabelle Selldorf, Farshid Moussavi, Marianne McKenna, and Kathryn Gustafson.

Tours Depart Between 10 – 11 AM (Timed Reservations Required)

Come by the Crocker Art Museum in your best Halloween costume! Decorate treat bags and enjoy music and dance performances around the museum. All ages are welcome, but keep in mind that space is limited. Advanced registration is required.
