Timelapse: Steel arch installed at City College Bike and Pedestrian Bridge

On Thursday, Nov. 19, the City of Sacramento installed the steel arch portion of the Sacramento City College Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge. The placement of the steel arch is a milestone in the overall project, which will improve bicycle and pedestrian safety by constructing an over-crossing that spans over the Sacramento Regional Transit Light Rail tracks and Union Pacific Railroad tracks adjacent to Sacramento City College.

The steel arch was previously assembled on site, and placed on the foundation by a large crane. The overall placement was a synchronized effort by a work crew, which looked so effortlessly done from afar. The future iconic landmark will connect the City College on the west side of the tracks and the future Curtis Park Village development on the east side.

The $11 million project is expected to be completed Spring 2016.
