Amgen Tour of California Finishes in Sacramento this Sunday!

First downtown road closures and parking restrictions start the morning of Saturday, May 21.

The City’s Police and Public Works departments are encouraging motorists to plan ahead for this year’s Amgen Tour of California bicycle race, Sunday, May 22, featuring the world’s most elite bicycle racing teams. Bicycling to the event is encouraged!

The 2016 Amgen Tour of California, presented by AEG, concludes in Sacramento — the first time the state capital will host the overall race finish. The race kicks off in San Diego and will cover nearly 800 miles of quintessential California terrain. The Sacramento region portion of the race starts at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Sunday. The Men’s Race leaves the start line at L and 11th Street and travels westbound to 9th Street. The course continues southbound 9th Street then westbound Capitol Mall over Tower Bridge. The race continues throughout the southern portion of Yolo County and then returns to Sacramento at approximately 2 p.m.

While the Men’s Race is in Yolo County, there will be a Women’s Race on the course from approximately 11:40 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. The course will be closed the entire time from the start of the Men’s Race to the end of the Men’s Race. There will be no parking allowed as well as no vehicle or pedestrian traffic allowed on the course.
