Delegates from Guangzhou, China tour the City seeking investment opportunities

On Friday, June 10, the Economic Development Department welcomed delegates from Guangzhou, China, with an extensive tour of Sacramento. This group was part of a delegation that attended the BIO International Convention in San Francisco from June 6-9.

Included in the delegation were representatives from companies focused on bio-pharmaceuticals, as well as US Commercial Services specialists from Shanghai and Beijing. Tony Yung, who facilitates the operations in the City’s Chongqing Trade and Investment Office, coordinated the delegates’ visit to Sacramento, in order to showcase the research, investment, and partnership opportunities within the Sacramento region.

The delegation visited the Capitol, Greater Sacramento Area Economic Council, Golden 1 Center, and UC Davis Medical Center. As part of the tour, Vice Mayor Rick Jennings, State Senator Richard Pan, City Manager John Shirey, and others connected with the delegates by sharing stories of Sacramento and its rich history. In hopes to collaborate with Chinese investors, speakers from the UC Davis Medical center and Medzone shared the technological innovations and BIO studies they are exploring.
